What went right? What improvement have you seen or benefitted from as a result?: Solar PV – Installed Nov 2023. Everything has worked as expected. Local installer was very professional, visited my home to discuss panel / battery options, assess the roof and agree location of kit & cable runs. Good comm’s pre & post-installation. Benefits: the system has generated the amount of electricity expected and am being paid a good export rate by myenergy provider. Currently on course to achieve a negative annual energy bill (gas & electricity). And carbon emissions reduced by about 1.5 tonnes/year.

What went wrong? What would you do differently? Any barriers that were identified?: Nothing has gone wrong, no particular barriers. I took time to educate myself about solar PV by joining a national Facebook group – reading posts & comments, plus watching Youtube video’s. I was then able to understand my needs, the options and ask prospective installers pertinent questions. The only slight negative relates to the export limit set by the DNO. Its not a big issue but does mean that at times of peak generation some electricity is wasted.

My top tip for a Future Fit Home is: Take the time to learn from people who have already done it.
